SECURITY and governance expert at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Prof. Kwesi Aning, has encouraged residents of La and the general public to take an active role in the new long-term development plan launched by the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA).
Prof. Aning stressed that since public funds were used to create the plan, citizens have a responsibility to get involved and help ensure its success.
Speaking at the launch of the municipality’s development plan and a new book titled Transforming Ghana, One District at a Time by LaDMA’s Municipal Director, Daniel Nkrumah, Prof. Aning said spatial planning is especially important as La’s population is expected to triple by 2037. “LaDMA cannot expand in size, so we must rely on technology and smart planning to manage our growth,” he explained.
He praised the teamwork behind the plan and the book, describing the publication as a useful tool for learning, civic education, and guiding public understanding of local government.

“This is not just about launching a document. It’s about accountability, partnerships, and transforming how we govern,” he posited.
Prof. Aning also commended LaDMA’s strong performance in public financial management and urged all stakeholders to keep pushing for transparency, active participation, and continuous learning.
