VOLTA Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has outlined a comprehensive three-point development agenda aimed at transforming the Volta Region into Ghana’s most attractive investment destination.
Speaking during a general meeting of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in Ho, the newly appointed Minister, alongside Council of State member H.E. Gabriel Kwamiga Atokple Tanko and NDC Regional Chairman Hon. Mawutor Agbavitor, formally introduced themselves to the traditional leaders as part of their first major engagement since assuming office.

Hon. Gunu expressed gratitude to the chiefs for their support during his vetting and the confirmation of Municipal and District Chief Executives across the region.
He stressed on his commitment to promoting peace and security, enhancing the capacity of MMDAs to drive economic growth and job creation, and collaborating with stakeholders to realize President John Mahama’s development vision for the region.

He highlighted key ongoing and upcoming projects including works on the Eastern Corridor Road, the Aflao Market Complex, Blekusu Coastal Defence Phase II, the Adaklu Industrial Park, and the Kenaf agriculture initiative, which is expected to create green jobs and improve livelihoods.
The Minister also announced the upcoming 24-Hour Volta Trade and Investment Fair, the first of its kind in Ghana, designed to boost commerce and innovation across the region.

However, Hon. Gunu raised concerns over unresolved chieftaincy disputes, appealing to the Judicial Committee of the House to accelerate efforts in resolving them. He assured the chiefs of the government’s support through Alternative Dispute Resolution and traditional dialogue processes.
“Let us build a Volta Region where tradition powers transformation – one of peace, prosperity, and progress,” he concluded.
