AS GHANA heads toward the crucial Akwetia by-election, Alhaji Abdul-Salaam Zeebah has raised serious concerns over what he describes as a chilling call for violence from within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Alhaji Zeebah, a recent statement by one Afram Tuffour, a known NPP activist and coordinator of vigilante-linked groups based in Ashanti Region, is demanding the revival of disbanded vigilante groups like Delta Force, Kandahar Boys, Bamba Boys and the Invincible Forces.

“This is not just reckless—it is a direct threat to Ghana’s democracy,” Alhaji Zeebah hinted. “It reminds us of the NPP’s long-standing ties to political violence, dating back to the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah.”

In his statement to Nationaltymes.com he recalled how the NPP has, time and again, relied on brute force instead of ideas; from attacking security officers in broad daylight to storming courtrooms, killing civilians and injuring others during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

Alhaji Zeebah stressed that Afram Tuffour’s statement is a public confession; the NPP fears fair competition and depends on intimidation, not policies. “They don’t trust the people’s voice, so they resort to thugs instead of thinkers.”

In sharp contrast, the NDC under President John Dramani Mahama stands for peace, responsible governance, and national healing. “We believe in ballots, not bullets,” Zeebah said. “The NDC is focused on rebuilding the economy, ensuring justice, and putting the people first.”

As Akwetia prepares to vote, the choice is clear: the politics of fear and violence under the NPP or the promise of peace and progress with the NDC.

“Let’s make Akwetia the turning point,” he concluded. “Say NO to threats and YES to the leadership Ghana deserves.”
