KEY OFFICIALS behind Ghana’s revolutionary 24-Hour Economy (24H+) policy have provided critical insights into the programme during a pre-launch media engagement held in Accra ahead of the official unveiling by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, scheduled for July 2, 2025.
The media briefing offered detailed clarifications about the 24H+ policy, aimed at restructuring Ghana’s economy to operate beyond traditional working hours.
Contrary to public misconception, the 24H+ economy is not just about night shifts but is designed to promote round-the-clock productivity across sectors – agriculture, industry, logistics, services and digital economies.
“The 24H+ is a comprehensive national economic transformation agenda, not merely a night-time working arrangement,” explained Abdul-Nasser Alidu, Head of Strategic and Programmes at the 24HR+ Secretariat. “It’s a structured, incentive-driven framework aimed at generating jobs, enhancing competitiveness, and driving inclusive growth.”

Officials revealed that the programme seeks to create at least 1.7 million jobs within four years, addressing unemployment, underemployment and economic inefficiencies.
Businesses operating under the 24H+ model will benefit from major incentives such as up to 50% corporate income tax reductions, expedited utility services, export rebates and special SME readiness certifications.
The policy is tailored to empower Ghanaian businesses to fully leverage opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) while prioritizing security, labour rights and decent work conditions.
During the interactive session, officials addressed public concerns, clarified misconceptions, and presented the economic, social, and industrial roadmaps underpinning the programme.
The full official launch of the 24-Hour Economy policy is set to be done by H.E. John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, where the complete implementation blueprint will be unveiled.
