CHIEF EXECUTIVE Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Simon Madjie, has lauded the United Arab Emirates’ proposed 1 billion Innovation and Technology Hub in Ghana as a game-changer for the country’s digital transformation and global competitiveness.
During a high-level meeting with UAE Ambassador to Ghana, Dr. Abdulla Almandoos, Mr. Madjie described the initiative as a major boost for Ghana’s ambition to become a regional leader in technology and innovation.
“This initiative can accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation and position the country as a hub for technological excellence in the region,” Mr. Madjie noted, adding that the investment could unlock significant economic opportunities for local startups and multinational firms alike.
The project — fully funded by the UAE’s Ports, Customs and Free Zones Corporation (PCFC) — will be constructed on land provided by the Government of Ghana. It is expected to commence in 2026 and be completed by the end of 2027.
Ambassador Almandoos emphasized the hub’s mutual benefits, noting that it will be open to a wide range of technology-driven enterprises and provide direct access to UAE licensing for companies that set up within the hub.
“The Ghana-UAE Innovation and Technology Hub aims to drive sustainable growth, foster collaboration, and boost innovation across various sectors,” he said.
The move signals growing strategic ties between Ghana and the UAE and positions Ghana as a potential digital powerhouse in West Africa, with ripple effects expected in fintech, telecom, education, and smart manufacturing sectors.
