THE VOLTA Regional Police Command has commenced the regular issuance of press statements on crime-related matters, marking a significant stride towards transparency and public engagement.
This initiative aligns with the Ghana Police Service’s broader efforts to revamp its public affairs operations, as emphasized by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
In March 2025, the IGP announced plans to reactivate regional public relations offices to counter misinformation and ensure accurate information dissemination to the general public.

Freelance journalist Peter Dzorgbenyuie Narteh-Agbeyome based in Sogakofe lauded the Volta Region’s move in a recent Facebook post, highlighting its potential to provide the media with accurate, firsthand information and reduce speculation.
He also acknowledged the persistent advocacy of Emmanuel Gameli Agbedu, News Editor and host of the Minyor-Awake show at Sela Radio 97.1MHz, Dabala, near Sogakofe for championing this cause over the years.

Narteh-Agbeyome expressed hope that this practice would be adopted by all divisional chapters and police stations in the region, to foster a more collaborative relationship between the police and the public.
The Ghana Police Service’s renewed focus on transparency and community engagement reflects its commitment to building trust and ensuring effective policing across the nation.
