GHANA’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Jajah, represented the country at the 9th Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025, held from May 21 to 24 at the Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala.

The expo, themed “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” brought together tourism stakeholders, international buyers, investors and media representatives to explore Uganda’s diverse tourism offerings and discuss regional collaboration.

During the ministerial panel on “Enhancing Regional Tourism Marketing through Strategic Partnerships,” Hon. Jajah highlighted Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, natural attractions, and the government’s initiatives to boost the tourism sector.

He addressed challenges such as infrastructure development and marketing, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnerships to overcome these hurdles.

A significant focus of the panel was the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), an African Union initiative aimed at liberalizing the continent’s aviation industry.

Hon. Yusdif ,Jajah, representing the Minister, Dzifa Gomashie, alongside ministers from Uganda, Kenya, and other African nations, expressed support for SAATM, noting its potential to enhance intra-African connectivity, reduce air travel costs, and stimulate tourism and economic growth.

POATE 2025 also featured the launch of the “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign, encouraging Ugandans to share their tourism experiences through various media.

HON. YUSSIF JAJAH,  DEPUTY MINISTER, TOURISM, CULTURE AND CREATIVE ARTS.

The expo served as a platform for networking, business-to-business engagements, and discussions on sustainable tourism practices.

Ghana’s participation underscored its commitment to regional tourism development and collaboration, aligning with broader continental goals to create a unified and competitive African tourism market.
