THE ATTORNEY General’s Office, under the leadership of Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine and his Deputy, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, is preparing to level formal charges this week against several former public officials over alleged crimes against the state.

Among those at the top of the list is Kwabena Adu Boahene, a former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, who, along with his wife and others, faces multiple criminal charges. Sources reveal that Adu Boahene is also linked to a previously undisclosed GHS60 million alleged fraud involving another state agency.
The charges are expected to build on findings unveiled during a recent press conference by the Attorney-General, based on investigations conducted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
In a twist, Adu Boahene has filed a civil defamation suit against the Attorney-General, contesting statements made at that briefing.
These developments come on the heels of a separate legal move by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which filed 15 charges just yesterday against a former Presidential Staffer and Secretary to the now-defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCM), under the direction of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
The nation watches closely as the legal wheels turn in what could be one of the most high-profile prosecutions of former government insiders in recent years.
