IN A RESOUNDING show of confidence, Hon. Ismaila Abdul-Razak, affectionately known as Razak Ember, has been elected as the new Presiding Member (PM) of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly.
The election, held earlier today at Kawukudi Assembly, saw Hon. Razak Ember – Assembly Member for the Nima Hot Coffee Electoral Area – secure a commanding 15 votes, while his opponent, Hon. Awuni Tongo Moro of the 37 Electoral Area, garnered just 2 votes. Razak Ember is expected to serve a two-year term as PM.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected PM paid homage to Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, invoking his call to dream, believe and achieve greatness. “The task ahead of us is great indeed,” Razak quoted, rallying his fellow Assembly Members to embrace a new chapter of unity, transparency and accountability.

After over a year of operating without a Presiding Member – an absence that many believe stifled effective governance – Razak Ember’s election marks a hopeful turning point for the Assembly. “We have awakened as a municipal; we will sleep no more,” he declared.
The newly elected Presiding Member (PM) used the opportunity to thank his family, community and colleagues for their unwavering support. He emphasized inclusivity, stating, “Hon. Awuni, you are not a loser and I am not a winner; we are all winners in unity.”

The PM pledged to work closely with traditional leaders, CSOs, youth groups and other stakeholders to drive community-centered development in Ayawaso East.
With a vision grounded in purpose and driven by collaboration, Hon. Razak Ember’s leadership promises to reignite progress in the municipality.
