
IN A SIGNIFICANT leadership change, President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
This decision, made in consultation with the Council of State and in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution, was officially announced on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
COP Yohuno takes over from COP Dr. George Kwesi Akuffo Dampare and is expected to lead the modernization and transformation of the Ghana Police Service. With forty years of experience in law enforcement, Yohuno’s leadership is anticipated to bring a new phase of security reforms to the country.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, who serves as the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
