PRESIDENT JOHN John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of the Western Region that their long-standing demand for equitable development will be met under his ambitious “Resetting Agenda.”
During a visit to the region as part of his thank-you tour, President Mahama acknowledged the Western Region’s crucial role in Ghana’s economy and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that development matches its resource wealth.
His visit follows a decisive victory in the 2024 general elections, where he secured 15 out of 17 parliamentary seats in the region, demonstrating strong public trust in his leadership.
Speaking to a gathering of chiefs, stakeholders and supporters, Mahama emphasized that his administration will prioritize the revival of the oil and gas industry, creating jobs and boosting economic growth for the people of the region.
“The Western Region has given so much to Ghana’s economy, and it is only right that it gets its fair share of development. My government will ensure that this region plays a leading role in our national progress,” Mahama stated.
The Paramount Chief of Essikado, Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, commended President Mahama’s ORAL initiative, an accountability framework aimed at enhancing transparency in governance.
While praising the President’s commitment to the region, he also urged him to fast-track major infrastructure projects, stressing that the overwhelming electoral support Mahama received was not just an endorsement but a mandate for action.

With the President’s renewed commitment to the Western Region, expectations are high for tangible development, particularly in infrastructure and industrial expansion, as Ghana moves into a new phase of economic transformation.
