THE NETWORK for Assin Development (NAD) has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to grant the Assin region a ministerial appointment, emphasizing the region’s longstanding contributions to Ghana’s growth.
In a press release, the group highlighted that Assin has played a crucial role in the nation’s development, supplying valuable natural resources and human capital. However, despite its significance, the region has often been overlooked in ministerial appointments and key government allocations.
The NAD believes that awarding Assin a ministerial slot would not only acknowledge its contributions but also drive further growth and progress.
“A ministerial appointment would give Assin a stronger voice in government, ensuring that the region’s needs and interests are adequately represented,” said Samuel Adobah, President of the Network for Assin Development.
The group further noted that such an appointment would attract increased investment, create jobs, and improve infrastructure in the area. Additionally, it would inspire the youth of Assin, reinforcing the idea that their region is valued at the national level.

The call also serves as a reminder of the NDC’s promise during the Assin North bye-election, where the party pledged to maintain its MP and offer a ministerial position. The NAD insists that now is the time to fulfill that commitment.
“….we will continue to push for the recognition and development that Assin deserves,” Adobah added.
As the political landscape evolves, all eyes will be on the government’s response to this growing demand from the people of Assin.
