THE PARLIAMENTARY Candidate (PC) for the NDC at Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in Accra, John Setor Dumelo has charged the NPP MP and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area to fix the problems the residents are facing.
Addressing the media in Accra, Mr. Setor Dumelo indicated that West Wuogon is becoming a breeding ground for criminals. And if the affortioned personalities refused to fit it, he would fix it. He made the remarks on December 7, 2023 to remind the electorates that they have 365 days into next year December 7, 2024 general elections.
He explained that students of UPSA, who have their hostels on the University of Ghana (UG) campus, are attacked and robbed by criminals anytime they were on their way to the hostels.
He said this was because there were no street lights on the stretch from UPSA through to the UG hostels; to this, he (Dumelo) had to provide a number of street lights to be fixed for the safety of these students. Mr. Setor Dumelo was saddened when he narrated that a vehicle hit a young man who died on the spot, because the traffic light at Okponglo junction was faulty for mouths.
He also charged the Hon. MP, Madam Lydia Seyram Allahssan to go and construct the storm drains they left for the past 4 years around Kissiman in the constituency to reduce floods anytime it rains. Mr. Dumelo cited visiting flood victims in their flooded homes in the midnight whilst it was raining to empathize with them, and to establish the cause of the flood.
In a related development, the MP, Madam Seyram Allahssan was comfortably sleeping whilst people’s homes were flooding with the midnight rains, and suddenly she woke up and also started the visitation when she heard Dumelo was visiting these flooded homes to empathize with the victims; only for her to express fake sympathy with them.
He further hinted that when he was desilting one of the storm drains around Kissiman in order to have it constructed to reduce the perennial flooding, he was stopped four years ago by these MP and West Wuogon MCE.
The excuses were that they have engaged a contractor to construct the drain, but till date, no contractor or materials on site.
To this effect, the NDC PC, John Setor Dumelo appealed with the electorates of West Wuogon Constituency give him him the nod this time around to see the needed changes in the area.
The NDC Constituency Chairman, Bismark Aborbi-Ayittey, also revealed that in the recent population census, Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency has a population of little over 75, 000; but the voters register are about 109, 000; which means, over 30, 000 voters do not live in area.
