FORMER PRESIDENT JOHN Dramani Mahama has called on the Jean Adukwei Mensah led Electoral Commission (EC) to decentralize the limited voter registration exercise to allow for better access to qualified persons to register for the Voter Identity Card (VID).

The EC, mid-last month announced its plans to start limited voter registration exercise at its district offices as the only centers across the regions in the country without considering accessibility and convenience to the citizenry.
EC district offices at the various districts across the regions in Ghana, are far away from the citizens within their districts. Majority of the people would have to travel for a number of kilometers to access one form of services or other in their district offices.
I addition, Persons With Disabilitie are also another group of people who would not be able to travel in their bid to locate where the district office of Electoral Commission is located for the registration of the voter ID Card. To this, Ghanaians, including traditional rulers were not happy with the stands of EC to centralize the voter registration exercise without any respect to the plight of the people. This reminded Ghanaians of Madam Jean Mensah in her usual attempt to use macavilian tactics in her quest to suppress voters.

He also urged the EC to consider the letter written by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to their outfit to publish names and pictures of the officers who are employed to carry out with the voter registration exercise across the country.
Mr. Mahama encouraged every Ghanaians who attain age 18 and above without the voter ID Card should come out in their numbers to register for the card ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He reminded Ghanaians that the 2024 general elections are crucial and it behooves on every citizen to own the voter ID Card to vote for change.
He also urged comrades in the NDC to put aside every activity and focus on the upcoming limited registration slated on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 and ends October 2, 2023. The registration would include replacement of missing voter ID Cards and voter transfer amongst others.
Former President John Mahama (JM) iterated the hardship President Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and his Vice-President Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumiah brought on Ghanaians in all facet of life.
