THE AYAWASO EAST Municipal Assembly (AEMA) has corrected and informed the people of the area the extent of work the Assembly has done and other on-going projects.

At a press conference addressed by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly (AEMA), Hajia Selma Mohammed Adams Sani-Kuta explained that she is working assiduously  to bring more development in the entire municipality.

She argued that the Assembly does not construct major roads because it’s the work of central government through the Road Ministry, and the Ministry promised her of coming to work on all the dilapidated roads in the Municipality.

According to her, since she was appointed the first MCE for the new municipal Assembly, she has never relented on her efforts to developing the area.

Hajia Selma Sani-Kuta indicated that she set a development agenda to change the narrative of the Municipality.

She pointed out amongst many other projects she undertook, that the Assembly rehabilitated a 3-unit Kindergarten block with ancillary facility at Islamic Training Institute in 2018.

Construction of a 3 storey 9 unit classroom block with ancillary facility at Flag-staff House Basic school in 2019. And also rehabilitated a 2 storey 12 unit classroom block for Kanda cluster of schools, block 3 and 5, in 2020.

The MCE further hinted the media that she had procured about 4, 777 various desks including teachers chairs and tables plus additional desks from the Ministry of Education to eliminate desks, teachers’ chairs and tables deficit in schools in area.

The MCE of AEMA indicated that on health, the Assembly constructed a storey facility for Nima Government Clinic and 12 seater water-closet facility at 37 Military Hospital Basic School in 2019. And carried out rehabilitation works on children and recovery ward as well.

She indicated that a 6 classroom block  project is on foundation level and is expected to be completed soon alongside other projects to beef up classrooms space for students in-take.

She argued that the Assembly was doing well on sanitation. She complained bitterly about the people’s negative attitude towards communal labour.

The MCE said sanitation has been one of the main focus of the Municipal Assembly. She explained that anytime the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly organised a clean-up exercise the community do not involve, and efforts trying to get them help to sustain the exercise proves futile.
