UNCOGNISED POLITICAL parties by the Electoral Commission (EC) have taken upon themselves to run the Communications outfit for the commission for whatever.
These uncooked smaller parties are PNC, LPG, GCPP, APC and NDP. They have no representations in the parliament of Ghana yet, they have temerity to endorse the new Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) prosed by the EC.
It was noted that these parties have no knowledge and experience in how things work at the polling stations and voter registration centres, and how data is gathered; and they are rather calling on the Members of Parliament to support and pass the C.I EC wants to send to parliament.
According to a Political Activist and Depity Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwi Ako Gunn, these uncooked political parties have no single member of parliament in their names.
But they are busily taking over PR job from the EC; instead of concentrating on their core duties as political parties who want to secure political power or parliamentary seats.
Godwin Ako Gunn indicated that “If Peter Obi’s performance in the just ended Nigeria elections cannot motivate our these smaller Parties in Ghana, then nothing can”.
Ako Gunn aka Kun fa Yakun further lampooned that these smaller Ghanaians want to see as third force, are rather behaving like Civil Society Organisations, and struggling for a voice and not a vote.
Below Is Full Statement
AKO GUNN WRITES: POLITICAL PARTIES WITHOUT MEMBERS IN PARLIAMENT ORDER THOSE WITH MPs TO PASS EC’s CI!!
I laughed at my own headline, because it sounds insane, but it is what it is !!!
I laughed because some smaller Political Parties are becoming busy bees settling for PR job from the EC, and are not concentrating on core duties like securing political power or securing parliamentary seats, while some passionate Ghanaians are looking for a Third Force.
If Obi’s performance in Nigeria, can’t motivate our smaller Parties in Ghana, then nothing can !!! If you don’t agree with me on Obi’s performance, keep it to yourself. Nigeria didn’t just vote for change, they trusted a Third Force !!!
Back home in Ghana, our versions of a Third Force are behaving like Civil Society Organisations, struggling for a voice and not a vote.
The position they have taken on the new CI reflects their inexperience, lack of knowledge of how things work at the polling stations and registration centres and how data is gathered.
People won’t troop to District capitals to register, Political Parties will mobilise to do that !!! The success of previous elections and even the success of the NIA, can be attributed to the involvement of both the NDC and the NPP !!!
Voters have always been grateful to both the NDC and the NPP for our roles in enlightening voters, and assistance during registration and voting exercises.
Our numbers in Parliament reflect the trust citizens have in us. The faster the smaller Parties wake up, the better for them.
Political Parties must be hungry for change, must be hungry for power, and must be hungry to prove their worth !!!
I may be unfit to advise them, but I am qualified to state that a Third Force with teeth will make both the NDC and the NPP sit up.
Let the smaller Parties stop the jokes because all of us have a country to rescue from ineptitude, greed, selfishness and carelessness.
Keep Hope Alive, Better Days Ahead !!!
