NDC grassroots and other party folks in the Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region want a constituency chairman who has personality with redeeming qualities this time around.
John Matey Atteh, affectionately called “Teacher JM”, appears to be the one the grassroots of Lower Manya Krobo wanted as their constituency chairman following his prowess in leadership.
Statistics Nationaltymes.com gathered in the constituency shows that Mr. Atteh Matey, who teaches at the Manya Krobo Secondary School (MAKROSEC) appears as the favourite of the people and delegates going into the chairmanship contest this weekend.
Over 58% of the delegates preferred Teacher JM to unperformed current constituency chairman, Walter Yaw Homernu who has lost touch with, especially the grassroots which are mostly the youth.
Other party folks who matter in the Lower Manya politics are also themselves rooting for a change in the constituency leadership and they are all for Teacher JM based on his leadership qualities as an experience teacher for 17 years and counting.
According to one of the Political Youth Activists in the Constituency, Moses Tettey Dometey aka. Bola Ray Jnr, the current constituency chairman for the area, Mr. Yaw Homernu has lost touch with the grassroots.
These political personalities who matter in the politics of the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency are overwhelmed with hopelessness because of the poor leadership of the constituency chairman, Mr. Yaw Homernu.
Mr. Tettey Dometey opined that the Lower Manya Krobo which has been one of the few “worldbanks” for the NDC out of 33 Constituency in the Eastern Region has been struggling over the years to grow under the leadership of Mr. Yaw Homernu.
He further accused Mr. Yaw Homernu, alias “Chairman One” of hijacking the minor development of the Constituency and channel it to his personal interest.
He said the poor performance of Chairman One has affected the vote pattern of the NDC in the area which made the party came close to losing in the 2016 general elections.
The Political Youth Activist also pointed out that Mr. Yaw Homernu had the opportunity to “serve as the Constituency Chairman since 2014 to 2020, eight (8) years yet, we couldn’t boast of a Constituency office as he promised; he has also failed in all his other promises that I know of”.
Bola Ray Jnr posited that the chairman kept running away from accounting to his people for his stewardship. And because he is close to the Hon. Member of Parliament, MP for the area, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, he (chairman) gets his (MP’s) support against other aspirants contesting for the chairmanship position.
Mr. Tettey Dometey lamented that Mr. Yaw Homernu, “Chairman One” has no redeeming qualities; his dismal performance as the constituency chairman has serious tendencies that would continue to dwindle the chances of the NDC if he is not changed immediately.
Walter Yaw Homernu’s cluelessness worsens, and might deepen the voting pattern of the NDC in the area; hence a fresh idea and experience person with redeeming qualities is seriously needed going into 2024 elections.
Following this, the grassroots and the discerning people of Lower Manya Krobo are now rooting for John Matey Atteh, affectionately called ‘Teacher JM’ of MAKROSEC to lead the Constituency with his prowess to maximize votes for the party.
