The Founder of Diaspora Progressive Movement (DPM) based in United States of America, Dr. Lawrence Appiah has urged Ghanaians and concern Civil Society Organisations, CSOs in the country not to allow the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP administration to get away with the Executive Instrument EI 144.
According to the US-based Political activist, Dr. Appiah, President Akufo-Addo and his cohorts deliberately leaked Lawyer Kwadeo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John’s will as a cover up to grab the Achimota forest lands.
President Akufo-Addo issued an Executive Instrument (EI) 144, declaring that the Achimota Forest is no longer known as a Forest Reserve.
Dr. Appiah indicated that the Executive Instrument, EI is intended to distribute the Achimota Forest lands to the NPP cohorts and party Gurus; he stressed that the instrument is a deliberate attempt to help President Akufo-Addo and his cabal use instrument as a conduits to loot the Achimota lands.
To this effect, Dr. Lawrence Appiah who is entertaining fears cried that if Ghanains did not rise immediately against this EI 144 which is still in effect, then before December 2024, most of Achimota Forest lands would have vanished and President Akufo-Addo and his cohorts as well as those who leaked Sir John’s Will, would be the beneficiaries.
The reason for leaking Sir John’s Will, which the media jumped unto it and completely forgot about EI 144, is the main damage (EI) and poison to Ghana. “For more than two months, Ghanaians discussed the Will of Sir John, while per EI 144, other people were selling the Achimota Forest and making profits”, he lamented.
To this, Dr. Appiah pleaded to Ghanaians to bring back the debate on EI 144; “let’s bring back the debate on EI 144 and ensure that it is withdrawn, simple”, he bemoaned.
“…..the NPP government led by Nana Addo deliberately brings bad policy not to benefit Ghanaians, and when it backfires, they throw in anything to divert attention and then kill the debate on their bad policy”, US-Based Dr. Lawrence Appiah noted.
After sharing the Achimota forest, amongst themselves, President Akufo-Addo quickly introduced EI 144, declare to the Achimota Forest known for ages as no longer to be known as a Forest Reserve, he opined. “This meant the Forest could be sold to individuals, who can develop the place for anything”, he added.
Dr. Appiah further stated that the government knew very well that EI was a very bad law, so they immediately drew in the Green Ghana project. “The Green Ghana project didn’t catch fire so they had to do unthinkable and this was to leak the Will of a dead man into the public domain”, he pointed out.
“….this dead government leaked the Will of Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John to the social media and they succeeded”. “As soon as the Will was leaked and people saw that, Sir John, who had accused the members of the John Mahama’s government as thieves, was actually the real thief”, he stressed.
Dr. Lawrence Appiah indicated that within just 3 years (2017 – 2020) in power, Sir John acquired over 200 lands, houses, cars and other properties and Willed them to his family forever. All those properties were acquired between 2017 and 2020.
By the way, wasn’t Sir John’s Will an indictment on Nana Addo’s government? Was it not Nana Addo who in 2015/16, told us (Ghanaians) that members of his party should go to the private sector if they want to make money, because he will not allow anyone to make money in his government? So how come Sir John made all those wealth in his government and he didn’t know about it, until his Will was leaked to cover-up for EI 144?, Us-Based Dr. Appiah quizzed.
“…..only under Nana Addo’s government, a Special Prosecutor has frozen the Will of a dead man. If we say under Nana Addo, Ghana is cursed, people insult us. Where has this happened before?”, he probed.
The US-Based Chairman for DPM, was of the opinion that maybe, the talk about Sir John’s Will is over but what did it solve? The EI 144 is still in effect and before December 2024, most of the Achimota Forest would have gone to those who leaked Sir John’s Will.
