The market women in the Greater Accra Region who deal in vegetables and other assorted food stuffs they buy from the other regions have stated that the horrendous E-levy is scaring them every day.

According to them, they have been ordering these food stuffs and other items and made payments through the mobile money before or after the goods arrived. Their customers who buy from them also pay their cash through the MoMo.
They indicated that, all these customers are scared of the E-levy and warned that they are no longer going to accept any MoMo, immediately after the Nana Akufo-Addo Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta indicated introducing the monster E-levy.

In a random interview with Nationaltymes.com, one tomato and onion seller, Mrs. Salomey Shashan Amartei hinted that their counterparts who have been sending them goods to them here in Accra warned that they are not going to accept MoMo again because of the scandalous E-levy.

Mrs. Shashan Amartei argued that they have been paying taxes alot in so many forms; therefore she could not fathom why the E-levy and the kind of tax it is that the NPP government wants to introduce at all cost.
After exhausing taxable avenues and receiving huge sums of money in Ghana’s history with little to show for; President Akufo-Addo is now trying to introduce a regressive tax on the people.

With tease running on her chicks, the market woman stressed that they don’t make any profit as they used to, because it is very difficult. Mostly, they have to reduce the prices of the food stuffs for customers and end up losing.
The angry market woman, Mrs. Shashan Amartei also points out the high cost of transportation that is adding up to existing hardship in the country with the E-levy following if approved.
She opined that the actions and utterances of the Nana Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led NPP and their appointees show they did not come for the generality of Ghanaians but for themselves, their families and cronies to create an empire.
“No wonder they wasted all the money the state accrued with very little development to show in 5 years, and they kept wasting the little resources (money) left”, she lamented.

She cited the Nana Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government had contracted huge loans in history such that if they had managed it well, there will be no need for any E-levy.
To this effect, Mrs. Salomey Shashan Amatei charged President Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led NPP administration to drop the E-levy immediately.
