The United Cadres Front, UCF in Ablekuma South Constituency have held their end of year get-together last Thursday for the purpose of socialisation as they look poised to maximize the support base of the Front in the area.
The event also sought to embark on a re-organisation programme to enrol more youth to help ensure the UCF/NDC becomes a stronger force than ever to reckon with.
The sparkling event drew lots of old Cadre members who had fond memories of themselves during their hey days prior to the formation of the National Democratic Congress, NDC.
The guest speaker, Comrade Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye, MP for Ablekuma South commended the UCF and posited that with the usual experience of Cadres the NDC would surely rescue Ghana from the abysmal performance of ruling NPP government.
He argued that close to 5 years in power, the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government contracted more loans than any government in Ghana but have little to comensurate with the huge loans. This he described as unprecedented in Ghana’s history.
The MP who was the former Mayor of Accra, hinted that the Nana Akufo-Addo led governing NPP tries to push more draconian taxes including the infamous e-levy to double taxed the already burdened Ghanaians meanwhile they cannot tell the use of the huge loans they took in the last 5 years.
He further pointed out that the activities of the NPP government is creating hardship in the country and serious unemployment situation, especially amongst the youth in Ghana.
Comrade Oko Vanderpuiye stated that in the NDC manifesto in the 2020 general elections is the “Big Push” where at least the youth across the country would have been busy working to take care of their families and dependents.
He mentioned the free primary healthcare for all, and many other goodies in the NDC 2020 manifesto was to ease some burdens on Ghanaians.
The Cadres’ get-together indicated the NDC has done it before; it was argued that the NDC government has lots of development records that no government in this fourth republic could contest.
Comrade Oko Vanderpuiye, cited few amongst other projects only in Accra including Millennium Schools, Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange, Greater Accra Regional Hospital-Ridge, University of Ghana Medical Centre (UMC) and The Bank Hospital at Contonment in La.
He also mentioned Tema and Takoradi Harbour Expansions, Kotoka International Airport Terminal 3 amongst many roads and E-Block schools infrastructure some of which are still on-going under the supervision of President Akufo-Addo such as the Kaneshie interchange and the completed Pokuase interchange.
To this, Comrade Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye lauded the move by the organisers of the get-together, UCF – Ablekuma South, in their bid to reorganise the grassroots of the NDC and encouraged them.
Other NDC gurus who attended the event include former Health Minister, Ashanti Regional Minister and the immediate past MD of STC, Comrade Samuel Nuamah Donkor; Hon. former MP for Ablekuma South, Comrade Fritz Balfour amongst many senior Cadres who took turns to address the gathering.
Almost all the Greater Accra Regional UCF Executive members led by the chief scribe, Comrade Mark Attoh were present with some members of National Executives to offer their support to Comrade Eddie Barnor, the Co-Chairman, Ablekuma South UCF; the Constituency chairman, Geoffrey Attakli-Banini and some of his executives were also present.
