The Hon. Member of Parliament for the people of East Ayawaso Constituency, Mc Nasser Mahama Toure has cut sod for the construction of phase 1 of 900mm x 200mm some drainage systems at Hot Caffee and Nima-441.
The sod cutting revealed that the drainage has been a major problem for the residents which became a dumping site for most people whenever it rains.
In his sod cut speech to mark the beginning of the project, the MP promised to provide all the necessary funding to have the project completed on schedule.
He added that when completed residents along the gutter would be safe. Hon. Mc Nasser disclosed that the pre-funded project would be born out of his share of the MP’s common fund.
That notwithstanding, he quickly promised to continue with his developmental agenda in other areas until Allah decides for him to quit politics.
Adam Abubakar and Noah Atta, the contractor and Engineer promised they will deliver the project on time.
On his part, the Ayawaso East Municipal Engineer, Ing. Attipoe who will supervise the project, expressed optimistic that the project delivered on schedule.
Hon Assembly Members representing the two Electoral Areas, Hot Cafee and 441, Razak Ismail aka Ember and Nuhu Khalid commended the MP for his decision to construct the drainage system.
The project which is supposed to take close to 12 weeks starts next week to bring some relief to the people around Welfare, 441 in the Constituency. According to them, the drain has been one of the biggest problems facing the two communities.
Some of those who are going to benefit from the projected when completed told Nationaltymes.com in an interview that they were expecting the project long ago, however it is better late than never, as they thank God Mc Nasser has come to their aid.
The Hon. MP, Mc Nasser appealed with the people living around to cooperate with the contractor, Adam Abubakar to successfully execute the project.
The residents were warned that anyone caught dumping refuse before during the rains shall be delt with according to the by-laws of the Municipal Assembly.
They were also charged to change their attitude towards the environment and play an active roles as citizens and not spectators.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony including Alhaji Sumaila Isaaka Yabre, an opinion leader and Chief Gomida, representing the chiefs of the area and some highly respected individuals within the Municipality.
