Former President John Dramani Mahama has presented cereals and undisclosed amounts of money to the chiefs and people of Ga West last Wednesday, August 18, 2021 for the celebration of their Homowo festival.
The Ga Traditional food that is always prepared during the Homowo festival is kpekpei (or kpokpoi) and is made from steamed, fermented corn meal and palm oil, often with okra or smoked fish added, served with palm nut soup.

To this effect, President John Mahama presented bags of maize, gallons of palm oil, assorted drinks and undisclosed amount of money to Nii Amassah Oseeku Amasaman Mantse and his people in the Ga West Municipality for the celebration of their annual Homowo festival.

The 2020 NDC Flagbearer was represented by Madam Sherry Ayitey, Vice Chairperson of the opposition NDC, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, MP for Odododiodioo who doubles as Chairman of the Greater Accra Parliamentary Caucus, and Hon. Nii Okai Laryea, former MP for the Amasaman Constituency.

Madam Ayitey said during the presentation that, it was the wish of H.E. John Mahama to physically spend time with the Chiefs and the People but circumstances beyond him have made it impossible.

He however, through the various MPs sent token of support to the Chiefs and People of Lante Dzan We, Ga Mashie, Teshie and Nungua and its now the turn of the Chiefs and people of Amasaman and other Ga West Chiefs Association.

He thanked the Chiefs for their support and wish them well in their Homowo celebrations.
