The Assembly member for East Kokomlemle Electoral Area at Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly in Accra, Moses Abor has capitalised on the desperation of President Akuffo-Addo to win elections 2020 at all cost, to deceive him with fake Assembly members.
Moses Abor is the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer, and he fakes the Assembly members to the Flag-Staff (Jubilee) House to scam Nana Addo and the party to show he was working hard for the NPP to retain the power which is set to leave them.
It has come to the attention of the Concerned Elected Assembly Members of Ghana, through media reports, that a group styled as Greater Accra Association of Assembly Members paid a courtesy call on President Akuffo-Addo at the Flag-Staff (Jubilee) House and pledged to support him win his second term bid. The imposter group of assembly members, confusingly, said the promise by President John Mahama to pay Assembly members monthly allowances can only be done by President Akufo Addo.
To set the records straight, the Elected Assembly Members have not sanctioned any group or group of persons to meet desperado President Akuffo-Addo. The Greater Accra Region has four hundred and twenty two (422) Electoral Areas, with the same number (422) being ELECTED Assembly members.
In a statement issued by the Concerned Assembly members of Ghana point out that the group were assemblied by the NPP Regional Youth Organizer, Mr. Abor.
The real group could not understand the reason the NPP Regional Youth Organizer made President Akuffo-Addo and the whole NPP to believe that the fake group he presented were the association of Assembly members in the region, which the identity of the leadership and membership of the group prove otherwise.
The group who could be best discribed as an Assembly of Imposters were nicely dressed in NPP colors; by virtue of which they succeeded, through Moses Abor, to scam President Akufo Addo following his desperation to win elections 2020at all cost.
Below is the full statement of the Concerned Elected Assembly Members of Ghana:
NPP GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL YOUTH ORGANIZER, MOSES ABOR, TEAMS UP WITH IMPOSTERS TO SCAM PRESIDENT AKUFO ADDO WITH ASSEMBLY MEMBERS ENDORSEMENT
It has come to the attention of Concerned Elected Assembly Members of Ghana, through media reports, that a group styled as Greater Accra Association of Assembly Members paid a courtesy on President Akufo Addo at the Jubilee House and pledged to support him win his second term bid. Not only that, the group, confusingly, said the promise by President John Mahama to pay Assembly members monthly allowances can only be done by President Akufo Addo.
For the records, Elected Assembly Members have not sanctioned any group or group of persons to meet President Akufo Addo. The Greater Accra Region has four hundred and twenty two (422) Electoral Areas, this, the region has 422 duly ELECTED Assembly members. Particular attention should be paid to the number of elected Assembly members in the region because those who met the President at the Jubilee House were not more than thirty. Assuming, for purposes of argument, that they have the instructions of Assembly members in Greater Accra to speak on their behalf, the number constitute less than 10 percent of the total number of elected Assembly members in the region.
It is important to point out that the group was assemblied by the NPP Regional Youth Organizer, Moses Abor, who is also the elected Assembly member for Kokomlemle East Electoral Area in the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly. For whatever reason, while the NPP Regional Youth Organizer made President Akufo Addo and the whole world to believe that the group is an association of Assembly members in the region, the identity of the leadership and membership of the group prove otherwise. At best, the group is an assemblage of imposters nicely dressed in NPP colors; by virtue of which they succeeded, through our colleague, Moses Abor, to scam President Akufo Addo.
Though we know the identity of all the about 30 people who met the President, for want of time, we will uncloth the identity of three of the leaders of the group. The spokesperson for the group, Stephen Akwasi Acquah is not an elected Assembly member. He was the Assembly man for Gbentanaa Electoral Area in the Adentan Municipal Assembly but lost his reelection bid to madam Ella Esinam Mongo in the December 2019 District Assembly Elections. The best designation we can accord him is former Assembly member for Gbentanaa Electoral Area.
Another person introduced as part of the leadership of the group is one Dennis Acheampong Boateng. Again, this gentleman is not an elected Assembly member. He was the Assembly member for Abbosey Okai Electoral Area but lost in the last election to Tubai Amando. On Mohammed Labaran, NPP Nasara coordinator for Ablekuma North Constituency was also introduced to the President as a leading member of the group. Once again, Labaran is not an elected Assembly member. He was, like others, Assembly man for Odokor Electoral Area and Presiding Member for Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly. In the last District Assembly elections, he lost his bid to Ishmael Quao.
In effect, we want to put on record that those Moses Abor led to meet the President and pledge support for his reelection bid on behalf of Assembly members are not Assembly members. They are importers who connived with the NPP Regional Youth Organizer to defraud President Akufo Addo. We are lost why Moses Abor will former Assembly Members to the Jubilee House and deceived President Akufo Addo that they are elected Assembly Members. We are capable of speaking for ourselves and as such these former Assembly members cannot purport to speak on behalf of elected Assembly members talk less of negotiating on our behalf under the umbrella of any rainbow group.
It is intriguing to note that since the National Democratic Congress launched it’s manifesto and promised to pay Assembly members monthly allowance, these importers have been prancing the corridors of power in a desperate move to win a deal for rubbishing the NDC’s promise. These importers, not too long ago, erroneously said paying monthly allowance to Assembly members will violate article 250 of the 1992 Constitution. Surprisingly, these same group of self-seeking lots have turned round to say President Akufo Addo is the best man to pay Assembly members monthly allowance. As it stands, President Akufo Addo and his Party have not stated anywhere that they would pay Assembly members when elected so on what account are these importers adding this to their wishful list?
The Concerned Elected Assembly Members of Ghana have made our position known on this promise, and by way of emphasis, we want to state, without any scintilla of contradiction, that we welcome the promise by the former President to pay Assembly members monthly allowance when elected. Our argument in support of this laudable promise remains unchanged – if the current government can pay over 1000 presidential staffers and over 120 ministers salaries and allowances, then paying Elected Assembly Members should not come as a challenge. We would however hold the former President’s feet to the fire to fulfill this pledge when Ghanaians crown him with victory on December 7.
Signed
