THE MINISTER of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Emelia Arthur, has pledged to complete and operationalize the long-abandoned Anomabo Fisheries College, which was initiated in 2013 under the NDC government but stalled under the NPP administration.
During a working visit to Anomabo, the Minister, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Shama, expressed her disappointment over the NPP government’s failure to launch the school despite the completion of classrooms and hostels.
She emphasized the importance of the project in equipping unemployed youth with fishing and aquaculture skills.

“The Fisheries College will not only train young people but also create employment opportunities and boost the local economy. My commitment is to see it completed and fully operationalized,” Hon. Arthur assured.
The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Hon. Prince Kojo Arhin, echoed her sentiments, stating that the institution’s completion would significantly enhance economic activities in Anomabo.
The Anomabo Fisheries College was originally designed to provide specialized training in fishing and aquaculture to empower young people in the coastal community. With the renewed commitment from the Fisheries Minister, hopes are high that the institution will soon become a reality.
