THE APPROVAL process for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCES) nominees should be a transparent and corruption-free exercise.
However, recent concerns have been raised about the unethical practice of vote-selling and buying during MMDCES approval processes.
It is the duty of Assembly Members to vote in line with the interests of their Municipalities or Districts, not for personal financial gain.
Taking money from MMDCE nominees in exchange for votes undermines the integrity of the process and fosters corruption.
“This practice only leads to compromised leadership and weakens the foundation of our democracy,” cautioned Ewui Ama Delali Awuyeh, CEO of the online news portal, Nationaltymes.com.
She has called on all stakeholders to oppose this unethical practice and ensure that *MMDCE* nominees are approved based solely on merit, competence and their ability to serve the community effectively.

“We strongly oppose the selling and buying of votes during *MMDCE’s* approval. It is time to prioritize the welfare of your areas across the country, over personal greed. Let us reject vote-buying in all its forms!” he added.
The call to action is clear: Assembly Members must act with integrity and nominees must resist the urge to engage in corrupt practices. The future of the people or the areas depend on honest leadership.
