IN A DECISIVE move, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has relieved Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng, the Chief Executive Officer of the Mineral Income and Investment Fund (MIIF) of his duties.

The announcement came through an official letter dated 12th January 2025, issued by Callistus H. Mahama, Ph.D., the Secretary to the President. The letter formally revoked Mr. Koranteng’s appointment as CEO of the MIIF, effective immediately.
The letter did not specify the reasons behind the decision but expressed appreciation for Mr. Koranteng’s service to the nation. Copies of the correspondence were also sent to the Vice President, Chief of Staff, and the Ministry of Finance, signaling the gravity of the decision.

This decision has sparked curiosity and speculation, as MIIF plays a pivotal role in managing Ghana’s mineral revenues.
Stakeholders and the public await further details regarding the leadership transition as they believe it was in line with prudent measures being put in place to stabilize the dwindling economy through proper financial management of state institutions.
