THE BONO Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised serious concerns over alleged looting of state properties by outgoing appointees of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in the region.

At a press briefing held in Sunyani, the NDC’s Regional Communication Officer, Charles Akowuah Tuffour, sounded an alarm over what he described as a coordinated effort to misappropriate essential state resources ahead of the political transition currently underway.
Tuffour called on the outgoing government appointees to desist from any such activities, labeling them as an attempt to deprive the people of the Bono Region of valuable resources.
The NDC revealed an incident involving the interception of an ASTRA DAF vehicle, branded CONSAR LTD., with registration number GN 7469-17. The truck was reportedly loaded with iron rods meant for the construction of the Sunyani West Municipal Hospital under the Agenda 111 project.

“This looting spree is deeply troubling,” Tuffour stated. “The ongoing misappropriation of state resources at project sites is a deliberate act of sabotage that must be halted immediately.”
The NDC also questioned the outgoing Member of Parliament for Sunyani West over his alleged private custody of government-owned electrical poles, cables, and transformers. Additionally, the party called on the Sunyani West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who chairs the Municipal Security Council, to account for the security and management of all state properties in the area.
Tuffour urged the Ghana Police Service to take swift action to secure state properties and ensure a peaceful transition of power. He also called on the public to act as watchdogs, reporting any suspicious activities involving government resources.
“The people of Ghana deserve better,” Tuffour emphasized. “We must safeguard our state resources for the benefit of all, especially as the Mahama-led NDC administration prepares to take office.”
The NDC concluded by assuring Ghanaians of its commitment to maintaining the peace and stability of the country during the transition period.
