GHANA POLICE Service has finally agreed with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over proposed routes for their planned demonstrations.

L – R; AKO GUNN; SAMMY GYEMFI; GS. FIIFI KWETEY & DR. OMANE BOAMAH, DIRECTOR OFELECTIONS.

To the NDC, the behaviour of Madam Jean Adukwei Mensah appears she is running the once Independent institution – Electoral Commission, as Ministry of Elections, with her as the Minister with deputies; and only takes instructions from the Executive.

Addressing the media after the meeting with the Police in Accra, the General Secretary of the NDC, Comrade Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the police have accepted the routes for the protest through to the Electoral Commission (EC) to present their petition.

He said the starting point for the Accra demonstration is Kwame Nkrumah Circle – Obra Spot, through to Parliament House to the EC Headquarters near the state house.

NDC General Secretary indicated that Tuesday, September 17, 2024 is slated for the symontaneuos demonstration across the country against the ‘adamant’ EC for declining to carry on with simple forensic audit of the ‘messed up’ voter register.

Prior to the just ended exhibition exercise the NDC called for its copy of the voter’s register for their perusal but the EC refused until a day to voter exhibition. Not knowing, the register was full of anomalies and that has delayed copying the political parties. The register has a huge number of voters’ names transferred to different constituencies and in some cases to different regions from their original voting constituencies and regions.

The demonstration is billed to come off across the 16 regional capitals where EC offices are located.

The EC led Madam Adukwei Mensah and her Operations Director, Dr. Bossman Asare were suspected to have displaced these voters deliberately and strategically, mostly in the regions suspected to be voting massively for the NDC.

In a press conference, the EC has confessed and described the displacement of voters as a mistake and promised to correct these deliberate mistakes at the right time.

The NDC suggested that Madam Jean Adukwei Mensah led Electoral Commission (EC) carry on with a forensic audit of the 2024 elections equipments due to the alarming irregularities ditected by the NDC before and during the voter exhibition exercise; but the EC strongly opposed the proposed audit of the voter roll, and wants to go to 2024 polls with such a corrupt voter register.

To this effect, the NDC concluded its arrangement with the Ghana Police Service to embark on its intended nationwide protest but regionally against the Jean Mensah led EC who has a lot to hide against the opposition NDC going into the elections 2024; following her refusal to conduct simple forensic audit of the voter register.

Other National Executives who accompanied the General Secretary to meet the police, were Comrade Dr. Omane Boamah, Director of Elections; Comrade Sammy Gyemfi and Comrade Godwin Ako Gunn, Communications Officer and Deputy Communications Officer.
