A POLITICAL YOUTH Activist, Musah Ali has accused the Ayawaso East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of planning to demolish a mosque constructed on the premises of the Nima Government Polyclinic.

According to Ali, Hajia Selma Mohammed Sani-Kuta, MCE, Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly (AEMA) has finally succeeded her long time dream.
He argued that the mosque has been there ever since the clinic was constructed under the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, and has served the Moslem Doctors, Nurses, workers and patients and their relatives who visit the facility.
The Youth Activist who doubles as the Communications Officer for the NDC in the Ayawaso East Constituency, further noted that in February 2023, the hospital administration gave an NGO the chance to shift the mosque from its original location within the premises of the facility to a new place for more convenience .
The NGO according to him injected thousands of Ghana cedis to a get a whole new mosque constructed and furbished . He also pointed out that the NGO went ahead to expand the maternity block upon request by the managers of the facility.
He added that it therefore came to him and the users of the facility as a surprise when news broke out that some parts of the hospital including the entire newly constructed mosque was going to be demolished any moment from now.

He wondered why would this be happening barely 6 months after same management gave approval for it’s (Mosque) construction.
The Youth Activist posed a number of legitimate questions which include:
1. Why did the administrators of the facility changed the location of the mosque?
2. Was it all part of the plan to ensure that there is no mosque within the facility?
3. What happens to the former space where the mosque used to be located?
4. Is it true that Hajia Salma the MCE is the one giving the administrators pressure to break the mosque?
5. Why did the hospital sprang a surprise in the NGO that constructed the mosque by notifying them to go and remove all valuables in the mosque 24 hrs to the execution of the demolition?
He posited that the move is being carried out without any official notification letter to the NGO but by just word of mouth. Further more argued that the people of Nima or Ayawaso East deserve better and that
“it is high time the MCE is made to understand that one of the qualities of a leader is one that engages the people and carry them along on any project he/she wants to undertake”.
He also averred that “no matter how good a project is, if the people in the area don’t see it as what they want or if they see it as something against their wishes, maintainance culture will suffer “
The Ayawaso East Constituency Communications Officer of the NDC cited that if a people want a market in their area and you go and construct a bridge it will be meaningless to them since that is not their primary need.
According to him, depriving the people of a place of worship in a facility like the Nima Polyclinic will not only be a wicked act but also it has the propensity to affect the revenue mobilisation of the hospital.
This is so because the people will choose to send their sick relations to where they (the care takers) can have access to a place of worship and demanded that the Ayawaso East Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Salma Mohammed Kuta must avert her mind to the fact that she is not leading herself but the people and so must halt this needles sacreligious move, demanded Musah Ali.
