HONESTY IS a virtue which is critical for the integrity of every public person. Honesty is a moral and social requirement for all. However, some people have thrown that to the dogs.

It would be recalled that the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Yunyoo Constituency, Hon Oscar Liwaal, in an attempt to redeem his already rotten political image in the Yunyoo constituency, made some wild and outrageously untrue statements on citi news, on 24th August 2023.
When the MP was asked why he had not responded to the constituents ever since the floods on 9th August 2023, he shockingly stated that he had provided relief items to the father and mother of the vibrant, fearless and brilliant Communication Officer of the NDC in the Yunyoo constituency. More shocking, damming and even annoying part of his statement was when he shamelessly stated that the Communication Officer’s mother had no place to lay her head.

The youth and family of the Communication Officer as well as the entire NDC Communication Team of the constituency therefore, demand an unqualified apology from the MP for that blatant lie.
The truth is, neither the personal house of the Communication Officer where the mother lives nor the father’s house was affected by the flood!
The question then is, if none of these two houses collapsed, then where has the Communication Officer’s mother been sleeping all this while?
This was a well calculated but failed attempt by the MP to bring shame to the entire family of the Communication Officer but to the glory of God, people physically know the family of the Communication Officer and knows that it is not possible for any member of the family to struggle to get a sleeping place at any event, whether foreseen or unforeseen.

Instead of the MP to have been grateful to the Communication Officer for projecting him to the media space for the first time as DCE for 4 years and and now MP for 3 years, he decided to pay good for evil by telling lies against the Communication Officer’s family.
The MP clearly lacked communication skills obtensibly, either he did not study communication skills at college or he never understood it. He lacked decorum as an Hon. Member and resorted to arrogant display of temper tantrums without any provocation.
If it was a strategy to intimidate and victimize our indefatigable Communication Officer, we can assure him that he has failed woefully.
We urge the Hon. Member to get orientation from the likes of Hon. Abednego, Ablakwa, Muntala, Sam George and a host of scintillating and brilliant communicators on the floor of Parliament.
We may not pardon this incompetence in future.
The next time the MP has the opportunity to speak to the media, he should avoid being emotional and speak to the issues as they are.
