Greetings to you all from the Ashanti regional secretariat.

DR. FRANK AMOAKOHENE, ASHANTI REGIONAL NDC SECRETARY.
  1. I wish to on behalf of the leadership of the party thank all Ghanaians, especially constituents of the Kumawu constituency for the protest vote as reflective of the provisional results from the by-elections
  2. The constituency is a known stronghold of the NPP yet neglected by the government in terms of development.
  3. The NDC is very happy with the increase in performance as compared to the performance in its 2020 elections.
  4. With our provisional results collated from all 75 polling stations, the NPP recorded 15,258 votes as opposed to the 14,960 votes they recorded in 2020. This represents a marginal increase of ONLY 298, representing 1.99%.
The NDC on the other hand, in 2020, recorded 2,439 votes and has recorded 3,633 votes in this by-election. This represents a massive increase of 1,194 votes, representing 48.95% increase in our performance.
  5. Remarkably, the NDC in this by-election did not record single digit at any of the 75 polling stations in Kumawu as compared to the previous elections. It therefore clear that the NDC is more attractive and poised to increase its votes in Ashanti region come 2024.
  6. Despite the sharing of money at polling centres and the massive distribution of goodies to the people of Kumawu, the NPP failed to make any significant impact in their stronghold constituency. The NPP obviously has become unpopular and on the verge of collapse in it’s own stronghold region.
  7. Importantly, the party noticed some irregularities, especially on the part of the electoral commission. These irregularities border on the EC’s integrity and independence from this current NPP government. The party will in the coming days pursue these issues to prevent the recurrence of same in any future elections.
  8. We finally want to thank the Ghana police service for the good job done in ensuring a very peaceful by-election.

Congratulations to the over 1,000 constituents of Kumawu who voted for change in this by-election. Let us do it massively to win 2024 for H.E John Dramani Mahama and the NDC.

Laura Continua.

Electronically signed,
Dr Frank Amoakohene,
NDC Ashanti regional secretary.
