The people of Oblieman near Sarpeiman in the Ga West Municipality in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana and some American dignitaries have joined hands to celebrate a historic Homowo.
Nii Anumle Oyanka I, after sprinkling of the Kpekpoi within and around the boundaries of Oblieman land with his new sub-chiefs, informed his people of his good intentions for the betterment of the whole community.
Already, he has provided some support to ease some burden on his people in the area. This include registration and renewal National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards of over 1200 children and 750 holders.
The people of Oblieman recounted that the young, energetic and hardworking Overlord of Oblieman had single handedly constructed public place of convenience for the people to stop them from easing themselves in the bush and at people’s backyard in black polythene bags.
Nii Oblieman indicated that the development is expected to cut across all sectors including education, healthcare delivery, women empowerment and child protection among many other things.
This year’s Homowo (ie. shame to hunger) celebration at Oblieman was talk of the town in the whole Ga West Municipality; especially with the involvement of the Black Americans who were fortunate to have been installed as sub-chiefs and members of both Abola Piam and Anamase Royal Councils.
Installation and coronation of these Black Africa-Americans took place on Friday preceded the Homowo festival which was celebrated on Saturday.
The Overlord of Oblieman, Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka I, and his people celebrated the sparkling Homowo festival for three straight days starting from Friday, October 17 and ended partially on Sunday 19, 2021.
