Local Government in Accra and Ghana would work for more people when MMDAs are strong and effective.

The new Chief Executives the the President intends to nominate soon may not make any impact in the lives of Ghanaians if they are fixed into the entrenched organizational systems and structures which have been created by corrupt technocrats to satisfy their interests for the past four years in MMDAs.

They would simply have no control. The system fights positive change. The organizational structures need intensive over haul.

We entreat state actors to implement a swift comprehensive posting and transfere regime to affect all key officers or Heads of Units and Departments in MMDAs across the Greater Accra Region.

Annual audit reports have established that organized corruption within MMDAs in Accra is increasing at an alarming rate every year.

The citizens are losing confidence in decentralisation. This is a major national security issue for the stability of the state. The President must act swiftly if he really mete to fight corruption.

The compulsory four year transfer or postings regime should be implemented by the Office of the Head of Local Government and the Regional Coordinating Councils to bring sanity.

Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, Head of Local Government Service

The Auditor General, Internal Audit Agency, Ministry of Local Government and office of the Head of Local Government Service must instruct and sanction MMDAs that fail to publish or make Annual Audit Reports available to all Hon. Assembly Members to deepen transparency and probity and accountability.

The President must protect his new nominees for the position of MMDCE by implementing the aforementioned to protect his legacy and restore confidence in Local Governance.

Humbly submitted for your kind attention.
Nii Armah, Local Government Expert,
Teshie, Accra.
