The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, NDC Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah has stated that the ruling NPP intentionally unleashed its Vigilantes to Brutalize the people of Banda to scare them from coming out to register with the Electoral Communications, EC.

With video and tape evidence, he indicates the NPP had the backing of state Institutions like the ‘formerly’ Ghana’s Judiciary and all security agencies to even kill the people of Banda, especially the minority tribes so would not come out in their numbers during EC’s registration exercise.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah who gave a sequence  events of the brutalities in the Banda constituency including the burning of homes of Ewe people and blamed the Nana Akuffo-Addo and his NPP for supervising the brutalities visited on the innocent people.

According to him, the brutalities on the people of Banda and the Ewes by the NPP was a dress rehearsal of what the NPP government wants to do to rig the 2020 elections.

“The violence in the voter registration is part of NPP’s grand agenda to use violence to rig the upcoming general elections against the will of the people”, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah stated.

The NDC chief Scribe further made a startling revelations where the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, PC for Banda, Joe Danquah who doubles as the Bono East Deputy Regional Minister ordered NPP vigilantes to kill if need be since they have the support of the Party hierarchy and Judiciary.

Prez. Akuffo-Addo Who Pretends Unaware of Ewes Brutality In Banda

In the leaked audio tape and WhatsApp platform, Mr. Joe Danquah the media heard vividly ordering for people to be killed, on his WhatsApp, Mr. Danquah also ordering for the brutalities against the people he thinks would not vote for the NPP in Banda when stated that, “I will fight till my last blood drops”.

Also in the audio tape, the Deputy Regional Minister for Bono East was heard ordering the NPP Vigilantes deployed to the area to Kill during the National Voters’ Registration (NVR), saying they are backed by state Institutions.

“It is instructive to note that after the arrest of the Ivorians they were arranged in court and were subsequently granted bail by Ama Amponsah the NPP Women’s Organizer in Banda”, the General Secretary emphasized.

” …If the minister of defense said they deployed the soldiers to coil violence, it’s a palpable lie. The Soldiers were deployed to join New Patriotic Party Vigilantes to Harass innocent people”.

The Ivorians who were caught holding the registration cards, the NDC chief Scribe debunked allegations by the NPP that he led them to come and register in Banda.

“I only intervened for people who were being blocked from going to register. And so I had to call the Commander and he (Commander) appeared very embarrassed but helpless because he realized what was being done was wrong. He eventually removed the road block because we were not leaving until the road block is removed”, the chief Scribe stressed.

He also reiterated that it was rather the NPP who orchestrated their registration of the NVR card which he stressed came to light courtesy the media.

Mr. Asiedu Nketsiah was scandalized as he took a swipe at President Akuffo-Addo for pretending there were no glaring brutalities that characterized the NVR.

“The President in his recent tour in the Volta Region instead of using the opportunity to apologize to the Voltarians, he shamefully said he does not have anything against the Voltarians”, he lamented,

The NDC General Secretary has therefore threatened to petition the International Communities with the unimpeachable evidence available to the Party should the Police and the Electoral Commission and the Judiciary leave the issues unattended to.

He also called on Civil Society Organizations(CSOs) to speak up against the brutalities that occurred in Banda and condemn it since everyone including CSOs will be affected should there be turmoi in the country.
