ASPIRANTS and stakeholders in the Nkwanta South Constituency have called for peace and unity ahead of the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections.
An aspirant for the Constituency Secretary position, Emmanuel Benyingi, said constituency executives must keep leadership in check to ensure development reaches every constituency in the country.
According to him, party executives sometimes fail to check their leaders, especially Members of Parliament and Municipal and District Chief Executives (MCEs/DCEs), and this affects development at the local level.
“Every constituency deserves its share of the national cake which will help in developing the country,” he stated.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Nkwanta South, Hon. Joseph Antwi Awal, also urged all aspirants and delegates to avoid politics of insults and anything that can bring disunity before, during and after the elections.
He advised that the contest should be about ideas and development, not personal attacks, adding that unity after the elections is very important for the victory of the NDC in the constituency.

Some delegates present also pledged to ensure a peaceful process and called on leadership to ensure fairness and transparency in the conduct of the elections.
The organizer of a unity programme that gave all aspirants the opportunity to speak to delegates, Mr. Ayidakyew Fuseini Juna, said protecting the peace in Nkwanta South is paramount and the party must do everything possible to remain united under one umbrella.
He stressed that the NDC does not encourage tribal politics and politics of insults, and therefore everyone should desist from it.
