NKWANTA North, a district in the Oti Region once described as one of the most deprived, has witnessed major transformation in recent years, with residents crediting the resetting agenda of President John Dramani Mahama.
In an interview with Nationaltymes.com, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nkwanta North, Hon. Isaiah Kudjo Dordoe, expressed profound gratitude to President Mahama for his commitment to developing all parts of Ghana.
He said government’s decision to channel the District Common Fund into key sectors such as health, education, sanitation, and water has boosted infrastructure development in Nkwanta North.
According to him, the initiative has led to the construction of new schools, health facilities, and the completion of abandoned projects, significantly improving the living conditions of the people.
He also highlighted ongoing road construction projects which will not only connect the district to other regions but also ease movement within the district. On water, he said water scarcity in Nkwanta North is now a thing of the past, with a new water treatment project currently in progress to fully address the needs of residents.
However, the DCE noted some challenges still facing the district. He said there is currently only one Senior High School in the district, which is inadequate for the growing population. He therefore appealed to government to expedite work on the Senior High School project at Damanko to give the district two SHSs.
He further appealed for the speedy completion of the Agenda 111 Hospital project to improve healthcare delivery and serve as a referral facility for smaller health centres in the district.
Hon. Dordoe stressed that with continued support and development initiatives, Nkwanta North is well on its way to becoming one of the most developed districts in Ghana.
