DRAMA unfolded at the Accra High Court on Wednesday after officers of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) reportedly attempted to arrest the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The incident happened during a bail hearing for Techiman-based senior nursing officer, Salomey Baffoe Awiti, who is accused of abetting the publication of false information linked to the controversial Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
According to sources close to the MP, the EOCO officers claimed the MP had failed to honour their invitations to assist with investigations into the Ghana Jollof case.
But sources close to the MP insist he never received any invitation from EOCO.
They further alleged that the attempted arrest was connected to the MP’s public defence of Salomey Baffoe, who is said to be an accomplice of the person behind the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
In videos obtained by Daily View Gh, a woman who identified herself as an EOCO officer is seen asking the MP to follow her to the EOCO office for questioning.
The MP reportedly declined and later drove away from the court premises in his Toyota V8, with EOCO officers in pursuit.
EOCO is yet to officially comment on the incident.
