NURSES at the Brewaniase health facility in the Nkwanta South District of the Oti Region are appealing to the government to urgently improve conditions at their centre.
Speaking in an interview with Samali Abdul-Razak – Nationaltymes.con, health worker Benjamin Adevu described the situation as very challenging.
He explained that the facility lacks enough wards, forcing adult women and children to share the same space without proper beds. In some cases, male patients are made to lie on benches due to the shortage of beds. According to Adevu, this situation is uncomfortable and affects the quality of care given to patients.
Mr. Adevu stressed the need for more beds and separate wards for men, women and children. He said this would help improve patient care and create a better working environment for staff.

Another nurse, Perfect Mawufemor Kwadzovia, also called for a complete renovation of the facility. She pointed out that there is a serious shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), which puts health workers at risk. She noted that PPE is especially important during disease outbreaks, as it helps protect healthcare workers while they care for patients.
Kwadzovia also raised concerns about poor security at the facility, saying it affects their safety and ability to work effectively. She added that during the rainy season, the area becomes muddy and difficult to access, making it hard for patients to reach the facility. The nurses are therefore urging the government to act quickly.
They are asking for more beds, improved wards, adequate PPE, better security, and proper renovation of the facility. They believe that improving the health centre will benefit both healthcare workers and the community. Access to a well-equipped facility, they say, is essential, especially during health emergencies.

The nurses say their appeal is a call for help that should not be ignored. They are urging the government to prioritise healthcare development to ensure quality care for all citizens.
