THE USA Zongo Caucus led by Coordinator Alhaji Abdul-Salaam Zeba has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ghana’s former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a woman of courage, service, and national impact.
In a tribute signed by Ahmed M. Gedel, USA Zongo Caucus eulogised the late First Lady as a “symbol of dignity, courage, and moral conviction,” who stood out at a time when few women were in leadership.
“She was not only Ghana’s First Lady, but a mother figure whose work through the 31st December Women’s Movement transformed the lives of many women and families — promoting girls’ education, healthcare, and self-reliance,” the statement read.
The Caucus praised Nana Konadu’s boldness and compassion, saying she inspired generations of Ghanaian women to rise, speak up, and take part in national development.
“As the Zongo communities reflect on her legacy, we are reminded of her message of service, sacrifice, and empowerment,” the statement said.
The USA Zongo Caucus extended its condolences to the Rawlings family, the people of Ghana, and all who mourn the passing of what they called “a true national matriarch.”
