LA DADE-KOTOPON MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, HON. RITA NAA ODOLEY SOWAH.

THE Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of La Dade-Kotopon, Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, over the weekend led a successful clean-up exercise as part of the re-launched National Sanitation Day, joining the nationwide campaign to promote cleanliness and improve sanitation.

Speaking to the media during the exercise, Hon. Anyetei emphasized the need for La Dade-Kotopon to reclaim its reputation as one of Ghana’s cleanest and most beautiful municipalities.

According to him, the Assembly took proactive steps by announcing the event early, engaging residents, and sending out letters to key stakeholders in the sanitation sector to support the initiative.

“We mobilized the people, and the response was massive. Households came out in large numbers to clean their surroundings, sweep streets, and desilt gutters and drains,” the MCE said.

He added that the clean-up exercise is even more important now, especially as the rainy season has begun. “Our goal is to prevent flooding. That means clearing rubbish and sand from the drains to ensure water can flow freely,” Hon. Anyetei explained.

The MCE acknowledged the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, for re-launching the National Sanitation Day, a campaign first introduced under the John Mahama administration.

He encouraged residents of La Dade-Kotopon to observe the first Saturday of every month as a community clean-up day.

“This is not just about one day. We want to build a culture of daily cleanliness. Our goal is to restore La to its past glory as a clean and admired municipality,” he stressed.

The exercise saw strong participation from the MP, Hon Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, traditional and religious leaders, Assembly members, Unit Committee members, and youth groups across the municipality, all working together to clean public spaces and promote environmental hygiene.

The clean-up exercise saw massive turnout from the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, staff from various departments of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly.

The MCE reiterated that keeping La clean is a shared responsibility and urged residents to sustain the momentum going forward.
