THE GREATER Accra Regional School Feeding Coordinator, Madam Jessica Patience Braimah, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, began a regional monitoring exercise to ensure caterers have commenced meal preparation under the School Feeding Programme.
With the reopening of basic schools for the 2025/2026 academic year, caterers are expected to provide one hot meal daily for pupils. However, delays in meal preparation are often recorded in some schools.

Madam Braimah undertook the monitoring alongside the National School Feeding Coordinator, Hajia Fati Forgor, under the theme: “1st Day at School Monitoring.”
Following a capacity-building workshop organised during the school vacation, Hajia Forgor, National School Feeding Coordinator urged caterers to apply the lessons learned and serve children nutritious meals.
She noted that the monitoring will continue unabated and, at times, unannounced.

Schools visited included:
– La-Dadekotopon Municipality: Services Primary A & B
– Ayawaso East Municipality: Nima Cluster of Schools 1 & 2
– Korle Klottey Municipality: Calvary Methodist 1 & 2
During the visits, Madam Braimah reminded caterers of their responsibility to deliver timely and nutritious meals. She issued a stern warning that any caterer who fails to cook for ten consecutive days will have their contract revoked.
“I urge you to deliver quality meals consistently. Any caterer who fails to cook for ten straight days will lose their contract,” she cautioned.

She also encouraged pupils to take their education seriously, adding that dedication to schoolwork is key to a better future.
Heads of the schools visited, commended the improved quality of meals being served since the recent changes in school feeding leadership — and expressed hope that the trend would continue.
