THE GHANA Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has taken a significant step toward improving data protection and privacy within its operations.

Over the week, the Chief Executive Officer of the GFZA hosted a delegation from the Data Protection Commission (DPC), led by the Acting Executive Director, Dr. Arnold Kavaarpuo.

The visit focused on strengthening collaboration between the two institutions to ensure better enforcement of Ghana’s data protection laws, especially among Free Zones Enterprises.

The GFZA CEO expressed his desire to provide the DPC with a platform to engage with newly licensed enterprises during the Authority’s training sessions.

Although the GFZA is already registered with the Commission, the CEO highlighted the need for additional training for staff to build stronger capacity in data management, privacy protection, and legal compliance.

Dr. Kavaarpuo welcomed the initiative and pledged his support for a long-term partnership. Both parties agreed that enhanced cooperation would boost operational security, improve data protection frameworks, and create a better environment for innovation and technology within the free zones.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, GFZA’s Deputy CEO for Operations, and other members of the management team. Stakeholders are optimistic that this collaboration will lead to improved data governance and overall business confidence in Ghana’s Free Zones.
