THE MEMBER of Parliament for South Tongu, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has made a strong triple commitment to sports development in his constituency following the victory of the South Tongu District U-17 team in the 2025 Volta Region KGL tournament.

After hosting the triumphant team to a refreshment, the MP donated GH¢3,000 in appreciation of their outstanding performance. He commended the players, coaches, and officials for their dedication, teamwork, and resilience, which led to a 2-0 win over Afadjato South in the finals.

Led by District FA Chairman Mr. Francis Agbedeke, Head Coach Mr. Asiwome Fiawoyife (aka. Mourinho), and Team Manager Mr. Martin Torku (Bebeto), the team paid a courtesy call on the MP to present the trophy and express their gratitude.

Hon. Lukutor encouraged the players to stay disciplined, avoid drugs, and focus on their academics while nurturing their football dreams. He hailed the inclusiveness of the team, with players drawn from all corners of the constituency.
He promised to raise the team’s achievement in Parliament and reiterated his commitment to completing an ultra-modern stadium in Sogakope, starting with the AstroTurf phase. He also pledged to resolve pressing needs such as football kits and logistics.

While acknowledging challenges caused by poor coordination before the tournament, he emphasized readiness to collaborate better going forward and build on the solid foundation laid by former MP Hon. Kobla Mensah Woyome.

The DFA chairman thanked the MP and assured him of closer engagement in the weeks ahead. The tournament’s top scorer, Eduwotu Godwin, was also awarded Best Player of the competition, crowning a successful campaign for South Tongu.
