MINISTER OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC PLANNING, DR. CASSIEL ATO BAAH FORSON.

T Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has postponed the implementation of a new fuel tariff adjustment that was set to take effect on June 16, 2025, following a directive from the Minister for Finance.

In a circular signed by the Commissioner-General, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the GRA announced a temporary suspension of the Tariff Interpretation Order (TIO) No. 2025/004.

The order was tied to the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1141), which aimed to revise levies on selected petroleum products under the Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy (ESSDRL).

“This directive is issued to postpone the implementation date of the Tariff Interpretation Order after consultations with stakeholders,” the notice stated.

The GRA emphasized that the expected increase in levies for petroleum products has been halted until further notice. The Authority also assured the public that a new effective date will be communicated in due course.

The decision comes amid growing public concern over rising fuel prices and their ripple effect on transportation and living costs.

Stakeholders, including importers, customs officials, and fuel distributors at all ports and stations, have been notified of the development.
