PRESIDENT JOHN Dramani Mahama has extended heartfelt appreciation to the people of the Upper West Region for their overwhelming support in the 2024 elections, where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured all eleven parliamentary seats.

During his visit to the region on Thursday, Mahama reiterated his commitment to addressing the area’s pressing infrastructure challenges.

Central to his agenda is the ambitious GHS 14 billion ‘Big Push’ initiative, aimed at reviving Ghana’s infrastructure landscape. President Mahama stressed that key road projects, including the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga and Techiman-Wenchi-Bole-Wa-Hamile corridors, are top priorities under this programme.

He described the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga road as a “social contract” with the people of Sissala, pledging its completion before the end of his tenure.

The Roads and Highways Minister, Hon. Governs Kwame Agbodza, supported this commitment, announcing that the reconstruction of the Sunyani-Techiman-Wenchi-Wa-Hamile road corridor is set to commence in the third quarter of 2025.

Preparatory engineering studies and designs are currently ongoing to facilitate the project’s timely initiation.

President John Mahama’s visit highlights his administration’s focus on regional development and the importance of fulfilling campaign promises to improve the nation’s infrastructure.

He assured residents that the NDC government is dedicated to transforming Ghana’s road network, which is crucial for economic growth and enhanced access to essential services.

“Our mandate is clear,” President John Mahama stated. “We are serious about transforming Ghana.”
