THE ACCRA Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced that the annual ban on drumming and noise-making will commence on Monday, May 12, and continue through Thursday, June 12, 2025.
This directive, issued in collaboration with the Ga Traditional Council, aims to maintain peace, harmony, and national security during the period leading up to the Homowo Festival.

Guidelines for Compliance:
1. Religious Activities: Churches are expected to conduct services within their premises without the use of musical instruments.
2. Use of Loudspeakers: The placement of loudspeakers outside churches, mosques, and pubs is prohibited. Roadside evangelism activities are to be suspended during this period.
3. Respect Among Religious Bodies: Religious groups and traditional authorities are urged to show mutual respect and prevent their followers from making derogatory or inflammatory remarks about each other’s beliefs and practices.
4. Funeral Rites: The Ga Traditional Council has imposed a ban on funeral rites and related activities during the ban period.
5. Enforcement: Only an identifiable task force comprising AMA personnel, the Ghana Police Service, and representatives from the Traditional Councils, all bearing official tags, are authorized to enforce the noise abatement measures. No other individuals or groups should attempt to enforce these directives.

The AMA urges all residents, communities, and villages within the Ga Traditional Area to cooperate fully and adhere to these guidelines to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Nmaa Dumo period.
