GaDangme Elites Defend McDan Group Against FIC Probe: “Justice Must Be Based on Evidence, Not Intimidation”

IN A STRONG-WORDED statement released today, the GaDangme Elites, a prominent advocacy group for GaDangme businesses, have come out firmly in defense of the McDan Group following a request by the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) for the company’s confidential financial records.

DR. DANIEL NII NSIAH McKORLEY, CEO McDAN GROUP OF COMPANIES.

The letter from the FIC, dated April 2025, reportedly demands access to McDan’s financial transactions spanning from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2024 — including electronic fund transfers, copies of issued cheques, and lists of financial institutions used.

GaDangme Elites have described the move as alarming and potentially abusive, warning that the FIC must not “weaponize its mandate” or embark on “fishing expeditions” under the pretext of intelligence gathering.

“He who alleges must prove,” the group emphasized, calling on the FIC to substantiate any suspicions with clear evidence. They demanded that if wrongdoing is suspected, the FIC must disclose:

● The specific transactions under scrutiny,

● The parties involved,

● The dates, amounts, and nature of said transactions,

● And the legal basis for the suspicion.

Highlighting the contributions of McDan Group’s founder, Dr. Daniel Nii Nsiah McKorley, the Elites praised the company as a “beacon of entrepreneurship, job creation and socio-economic empowerment” not just for the GaDangme people but for Ghana at large.

The group stressed that such vague and sweeping demands could unfairly tarnish a reputable Ghanaian brand and called for adherence to the principle of audi alteram partem – the right to a fair hearing based on concrete facts, not mere conjecture.

“McDan has built not just a business, but a legacy. If justice must be served, let it be done transparently – with evidence, not innuendo,” the statement concluded.

The response was signed by Nii Kpakpo Zumstara, Media Relations Officer for the GaDangme Elites.
