THE NATIONAL Identification Authority (NIA) has officially announced the commencement of the issuance of the printed backlog of Ghana Cards and first-time registrations across all NIA District Offices in the Greater Accra Region.
The exercise kicked off yesterday, Tuesday, April 7, 2025 will continue till further notice.

According to a press release issued on April 6 by Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, the Acting Head of the Corporate Affairs Directorate, this initiative targets Ghanaians who applied for new cards, replacements, or updates to their personal information from June 2023 but have yet to receive their cards.
The NIA urges all such applicants to visit the specific district offices where they initially registered to collect their cards. Additionally, citizens aged 15 and above who have not yet registered for the Ghana Card are encouraged to do so.
Importantly, the NIA stressed that the issuance of the printed backlog and first-time registrations is entirely free of charge. The public is advised to report any NIA staff member who demands payment for these services.
However, fees for card replacements and updates to personal records still apply and must be paid at the district offices.
The NIA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian obtains the Ghana Card as a vital means of identification.
For more information, the public can contact the NIA via 0302 999 309.
