IN A MOVE to ensure transparency and efficiency in the distribution of cash grants under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has commenced a nationwide monitoring exercise beginning with selected centers in the Greater Accra Region.
The Minister’s visit forms part of her pledge to oversee the 94th and 95th LEAP payment cycles, which are currently being disbursed nationwide. At one of her stops in Nungua (Krowor Constituency), Dr. Lartey engaged with beneficiaries and payment agents to assess the effectiveness of the disbursement process and identify any operational challenges.
The combined 94th and 95th LEAP cycles provide cash support to eligible households based on the number of qualified members. Payment amounts are as follows:
One eligible member household: GHS 512.00
Two eligible member households: GHS 608.00
Three eligible member households: GHS 704.00
Four or more eligible member households: GHS 848.00

Dr. Lartey reiterated that the LEAP Programme serves as a critical lifeline for extremely poor households, especially those with orphans and vulnerable children, persons with severe disabilities, elderly individuals aged 65 and above and pregnant or nursing mothers with infants under one year.
She encouraged beneficiaries to channel the grants towards essential needs such as nutrition, children’s education and income-generating ventures, emphasizing the importance of using the support as a stepping stone toward financial independence.
To ensure fairness and continued relevance of the programme, the Ministry has initiated a nationwide reassessment of beneficiary households. This effort, spearheaded by the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR), will help identify households that still qualify while creating room for new vulnerable groups to benefit.

Calling on the media to support the initiative, Dr. Lartey underscored the importance of transparency and public awareness in strengthening social protection programmes.
As the flagship social support scheme under the Ministry, the LEAP Programme delivers bi-monthly cash assistance to thousands of vulnerable Ghanaians. The ongoing 94th and 95th payment cycles represent a significant step in the government’s broader efforts to uplift the nation’s most disadvantaged citizens.
The Minister’s monitoring tour in Greater Accra marks the beginning of a nationwide exercise to ensure no eligible household is left behind.
