THE ABOSSEY Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has firmly denied the allegations made by the Alliance of Drivers – Ghana, which suggest that increasing spare parts prices are the reason behind the upcoming 20% rise in lorry fares, set to kick in on March 17, 2025.
In a press release, the association labeled these claims as “false and misleading,” urging the public to ignore them.
Mr. Henry Okyere Jnr, who chairs the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association and also serves as President of the Ghana Auto Parts Dealers Association, stressed that there haven’t been any recent price increases in spare parts.
He went on to clarify that neither import duties nor market conditions have shifted in a way that would support such claims.
“The new government is dedicated to backing the spare parts industry. Our stock levels are stable, and the prices of essential vehicle components, like engine oil and filters, have remained unchanged,” Mr. Okyere Jnr remarked.
The association urged the Alliance of Drivers – Ghana to base any fare changes on solid economic data rather than what it called “unfounded allegations.”
They encouraged transport operators to collaborate with government regulators and transport unions to ensure that any fare increases are transparent and fair.
The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association reassured the public of its commitment to honesty and transparency in all matters concerning both the transportation and spare parts sectors.
